Portland Narrow Lot House

The relationship between the home and the street life outside was the main consideration in this narrow-lot house design for a Portland, Oregon competition. The residence nurtures connectivity without sacrificing internal reflection and privacy. The central courtyard draws guests from the sidewalk and neighboring yards to the outdoor heart of the home. Without alley access, particular study was given to the garage, which is allowed a convenient and practical location without dominating the neighborhood's vital street life.
