West Hills Garden Shed
Conceived as a buffer to bustling student housing nearby, the shed provides privacy and a sound break. It was designed to create an "alley" between the public front of the home and the private back yard patio. The alley paving itself is made of salvaged "Lawrence, Kansas" bricks from the house's original patio. The rest of the patio is made of large limestone slabs. Built of rammed earth, the cost-conscious shed was constructed by the owners, their friends, and family on weekends over the course of a year.
